Three components, three cavity profiles
Each component in these kits needs a different approach, and using the same profile for all three is the most common reason a kit insert fails.
- The vial — A flat base and a cylindrical body. A punched hole or a milled cavity both work; the base rests on the box floor.
- The ampoule — No flat base and a tapered neck. It needs a cradle — a curved trough supporting it along its length rather than a hole to stand in.
- The syringe — Long and thin with a wide plunger flange. It needs a channel with a relief at the flange end.
- Separation between them — Glass ampoules are thinner than vials and break more easily. A wall between components is not optional here.
Kit layouts
- Vial and ampoule side by side — The most common. A wide shallow carton with two profiles in one insert.
- Vial, ampoule and syringe — A three-position insert, usually with the syringe channel along one edge.
- Multiple vials with shared diluent — Several vial cavities and one larger diluent position.
- Stacked layout — Components on two levels with an interleaf, where footprint matters more than access.

Protecting a glass ampoule
Ampoules deserve particular attention because they are the weakest item in most kits.
- Full-length cradle — Supporting the ampoule along its body rather than at one point.
- Foam rather than board — A foam cradle absorbs impact; a folded board cradle only locates.
- Neck clearance — The scored neck should not bear on the insert.
- No contact with the vial — A wall between the two, always.
- Lid pad — A thin foam layer in the lid removing vertical movement.
Carton structures
- Straight tuck end — For simple two-component kits.
- Two-piece lid and base — Loads easily and presents all components at once.
- Flip top — Keeps the lid attached, which suits a kit assembled at the point of use.
- Sleeve and tray — A drawer holding a multi-position tray.
- Auto-lock carton — For multi-vial kits where loaded weight is higher.

Materials
- SBS paperboard — The standard for kit cartons; prints component listings cleanly.
- Rigid chipboard — For presentation kits and practitioner-facing packs.
- Kraft paperboard — A plain, functional look for laboratory and research supply.
- E-flute corrugated — For multi-kit trade cases.
- Recyclable paper-based stock — Available when paired with paperboard cradles rather than foam.

Printing and component identification
A kit with three unlike components needs the user to know which is which, and the packaging is where that happens.
- Printed position labels — Component names printed beside each cavity on the insert.
- Inner lid diagram — A map of the cavity layout, printed where it faces the user.
- Component list panel — A printed panel on the carton listing contents.
- Distinct vial and ampoule labels — So the two are not confused at the point of use.
- CMYK or PMS — Whichever suits your brand consistency requirements.
What those labels and lists say is your content and your responsibility. We reproduce it; we do not draft or review it.
Finishing
- Matte lamination — The usual specification; also accepts applied labels reliably.
- Aqueous coating — Where the carton should stay in a paper recycling stream.
- Spot UV — On a logo, where the pack is brand-facing.
- Soft-touch — For presentation kits sold to practitioners or direct to consumers.
Ordering a kit carton
- 1. Send every component — Vial, ampoule, syringe, swabs — all of them. Missing one changes the whole insert.
- 2. Confirm the layout — Side by side, three-position or stacked, depending on footprint and access.
- 3. Insert material — Foam for the ampoule cradle unless cost rules it out.
- 4. Loaded sample — Every component seated, then inverted and shaken.
- 5. Production — Cartons printed and cut, inserts produced, components supplied to match.

- We reproduce artwork you supply and approve; we do not author it.
- We do not review packaging or label content for regulatory compliance.

HCG Vial Boxes: questions we are asked
Do you sell HCG or supply the diluent?
No. We manufacture packaging. Orders contain empty cartons, inserts, trays or labels only. Vials, ampoules, syringes and their contents are sourced entirely by you.
Why can an ampoule not sit in a punched hole?
Because it has no flat base to rest on. Standing it in a hole leaves it supported only at one point on a tapered body, which is unstable and puts stress on the glass. A cradle supporting it along its length is the correct approach.
Should the ampoule cradle be foam or board?
Foam, where the budget allows. A board cradle locates the ampoule but does not absorb impact, and an ampoule is the most fragile item in the kit.
Can the kit include a syringe?
Yes — a channel with a relief at the plunger flange. Send the actual syringe, because barrel length and flange width vary between suppliers.
How do users know which component is which?
Printed position labels on the insert and, where useful, a diagram on the inner lid. Distinct vial and ampoule labels matter too. The content of those labels is yours to determine.
What happens if I add a component later?
The insert has to be redesigned, and often the carton too. It is far cheaper to tell us about every component at the start, even ones you are unsure about including.
Can the kit be tamper-evident?
Yes, through seal labels, a perforated tear strip or a shrink band. Whether that is required for your product and market is your decision.
Will your packaging make my kit compliant?
No. Packaging does not create regulatory compliance. What your product requires, and whether it may lawfully be supplied, are matters for you and your regulatory advisers.
Can I have a plain carton to over-label later?
Yes. Plain or single-colour cartons with a defined matte area for an applied label are common in this category, particularly for practitioner supply.
Do you produce trade cases for multiple kits?
Yes. A corrugated case with partitions, sized to the loaded kit rather than to a stock dimension.
