Designing a pack that survives being half used
A course pack looks good in a photograph when it is full. The real test is how it looks after three of the eight vials have been taken out, because that is the state the customer sees it in for most of its life.
Packs that fail this test tend to use a shared tray with no individual retention, so the remaining vials tip into the empty spaces. Packs that pass it use individual cavities deep enough to hold a vial upright with nothing beside it.
- Individual cavities — Each vial retained independently, so removing one does not free the others.
- Sequence numbering — Printed positions so a partly used pack is still readable at a glance.
- Grid layouts — A regular grid makes remaining quantity obvious without counting.
- Cavity depth — Deep enough that a lone vial cannot topple into an adjacent empty position.
Formats we build for course packs
- Four- and six-vial sets — A short course, usually in a two-piece or rigid box with printed positions.
- Eight- and ten-vial sets — A longer course; a drawer structure keeps the remaining vials organised.
- Subscription refill packs — A lower-cost carton designed to refill an original presentation box.
- Starter pack plus refill — A premium first box and a plain refill carton sharing the same tray footprint.
The starter-plus-refill model is worth considering early, because it lets you spend on the first box without paying for that spend on every repeat order. The tray footprint has to be common to both, which is a decision made at design time.
Retail presentation
Where the pack is sold direct to consumers, it competes visually with wellness products rather than clinical ones. That usually means a different design vocabulary from a research carton.
- Front panel hierarchy — One dominant element rather than a dense information block.
- Considered interior — The customer opens the box repeatedly; the inside is seen more than the outside.
- Finish over decoration — A soft-touch or uncoated surface reads as premium more reliably than added effects.
- Window option — Showing the vials builds confidence in what is inside before purchase.
Structures
- Sleeve and tray — The best structure for a course pack; the drawer keeps remaining vials in place.
- Rigid magnetic box — For premium starter packs that customers keep.
- Two-piece lid and base — Simple, strong and cheaper than magnetic.
- Auto-lock carton — For refill packs where cost per unit dominates.
- Flip top — Where the lid should never be separated from the box during a course.

Materials
- Rigid chipboard — For starter and presentation packs.
- SBS paperboard — For refill cartons and lighter counts.
- Kraft and recycled boards — Increasingly common in wellness packaging, where a natural material reads as a positive.
- Recyclable paper-based construction — Achievable throughout when paired with a folded paperboard tray.
- Uncoated fine paper wrap — A tactile alternative to laminated art paper on rigid builds.
Inserts
- Folded paperboard tray — Recyclable with the box and surprisingly rigid; the default for wellness packs.
- EVA foam block — A more protective and more premium-feeling option for starter boxes.
- Formed tray — Where every vial must sit identically behind a window.
- Printed insert — Position numbers printed directly beside each cavity.

Printing and finishing
- CMYK process — For the graphic-led artwork common in this category.
- PMS spot colour — For a consistent brand colour across starter and refill packs.
- Inside printing — Worth the cost on a box opened many times.
- Soft-touch coating — The finish customers notice most on a box they handle repeatedly.
- Foil and deboss — Used sparingly on the lid of a starter pack.
Vial labels for course packs
Where each vial in a course carries a different position or date, the label does that work rather than the box.
- Variable data printing — Sequential numbering, dates or codes printed per label within one run.
- Consistent design, varying content — One design across the set, with the changing element clearly placed.
- Moisture-resistant materials — For vials that may be refrigerated and handled with damp hands.
- Small-format legibility — Sequence numbers set large enough to read at a glance.

Ordering
- 1. Course length — How many vials in a pack, and whether refills share the footprint.
- 2. Send the vial — Cavity fit is measured from the actual vial.
- 3. Structure and interior — Decided together; the interior is what the customer lives with.
- 4. Sample — Load it, remove three vials, and look at it half-used.
- 5. Production — Boxes, trays, inserts and labels produced together.
Artwork responsibility
- We reproduce artwork you supply and approve; we do not write it.
- We do not review packaging or label content for regulatory compliance.
- Preflight checks cover production issues only.
- What must appear on your packaging is your responsibility to determine.
Quality control
- Cavity retention is checked with a single vial in an otherwise empty tray.
- Printed position numbering is verified against the approved cavity map.
- Starter and refill packs are checked against each other for tray interchangeability.
- Colour is compared across box, insert and label as a set.
- Loaded samples are inverted and shaken.

Do you sell NAD+ or any supplement?
No. We manufacture packaging. Orders contain empty boxes, trays, inserts and labels. We have never supplied a compound, supplement or medication and do not intend to.
What makes a good course pack?
Individual cavities that hold each vial independently, printed position numbering, and an interior worth looking at. The test is not how it looks full — it is how it looks with three vials missing.
Should the refill pack use the same box?
Usually not. A common approach is a premium starter box the customer keeps and a plain refill carton at a fraction of the cost. Both need to share a tray footprint, which is a decision to make at design time rather than later.
Can each vial have a different number on its label?
Yes, through variable data printing. Every label in the run can carry its own sequence number, date or code while sharing one design.
Do you make health claims about products packed in your boxes?
No, and we will not print claims we consider misleading. Beyond that, the content of your packaging is yours to determine and yours to be responsible for.
Is a window a good idea on a wellness pack?
Often, yes — seeing the product before purchase builds confidence. It needs a tray that holds every vial level, otherwise it works against you.
Which finish reads as most premium?
A soft-touch coating or a good uncoated paper, in our experience, more than any decorative effect. Customers register surface feel immediately and decoration only afterwards.
Can the box be fully recyclable?
A paperboard box with a folded paperboard tray and an aqueous coating rather than plastic lamination will go into standard paper recycling. We will tell you exactly what a given specification means rather than making a general claim.
How many vials before the box needs a stronger structure?
Around six to eight, depending on vial size. Past that, a drawer or two-piece structure handles the load far better than a folding carton.
Can you produce the boxes and the labels together?
Yes, and it is worth doing. Colour and finish match, and there is no mismatch between separately sourced components.
