Sleeve and Tray Peptide Boxes

A sleeve and tray box splits two jobs that most structures try to do at once. The tray holds and protects the vials. The sleeve wraps around it and carries the printing. Neither has to compromise for the other.

The drawer action is also the most controlled opening we offer. The tray emerges gradually, revealing the vials in sequence rather than all at once, which is why this structure is used so often for sets that need to feel considered.

How the sleeve and tray divide the work

The tray is a rigid or folded box with no lid. It carries the insert, takes the load through its own walls, and is dimensionally stable. The sleeve is a printed band, usually a single glued loop, that fits over it.

Because they are separate, you can put the budget where it shows. A plain kraft tray inside a heavily finished sleeve costs far less than a fully wrapped rigid box and looks almost as considered when it is open.

  • Full sleeveCovers the whole tray. Maximum print area, maximum friction.
  • Belly bandA narrow band around the middle. Cheaper, and lets the tray material show.
  • Open-ended sleeveBoth ends open, so the tray can be pushed from either side.
  • Closed-end sleeveOne end closed, giving a positive stop and a cleaner silhouette.

Tray options

  • Rigid wrapped trayGreyboard walls with a paper wrap. The most substantial feel.
  • Folded paperboard trayA single die-cut sheet folded into a tray. Ships flat, costs least.
  • Moulded trayA formed plastic tray with pockets, used where vials must be visible or precisely held.
  • Corrugated trayFor heavier loads where protection matters more than appearance.

Insert options inside the tray

  • EVA foamCut to the tray footprint; the tray walls hold it in place with no adhesive needed.
  • Moulded pocketsWhere the tray itself is formed with cavities.
  • Folded partitionsFor higher counts, dropped straight into the tray.
  • Die-cut platformFor lighter vials in a folded tray.

Because the tray has walls on all four sides, the insert does not need adhesive or tabs to stay put — which makes this the simplest structure to load with a custom die-cut insert.

Printing

Artwork guidance

  • Sleeve artwork wraps continuously — check that the design works across the fold onto the reverse.
  • Position the thumb notch where it will not cut through critical artwork.
  • If the tray is printed, remember most of it is hidden while the sleeve is on.
  • Allow for the sleeve glue lap, which overlaps the rear face.
  • Artwork arrives as print-ready PDF with 3 mm bleed, outlined type and 300 dpi links.

Quality control

  • Draw force is checked on loaded samples — too tight and the tray tears the sleeve.
  • Trays are checked for square so they do not bind on one corner.
  • Sleeve glue laps are pull-tested.
  • Colour is monitored against the approved proof.
  • Loaded samples are inverted to confirm the tray does not drop out.

Sleeve and Tray Peptide Boxes: questions we are asked

Will the tray slide out on its own in transit?

Not if the friction is specified correctly, and we check it on loaded samples. For extra security a stop tab or a ribbon can be added, or the sleeve can be closed at one end.

Does the tray need to be printed?

Usually not. A plain white or kraft tray inside a well-printed sleeve looks deliberate and costs considerably less. Printing the tray only pays off when it stays visible in use.

Why choose this over a two-piece box?

The sleeve gives an uninterrupted printed face with no lid joint across it, and the drawer action reveals the contents progressively. A two-piece box is simpler and slightly cheaper; a sleeve and tray presents better.

Can the sleeve have a window?

Yes, and it works particularly well here — the tray behind it provides a clean, consistent backdrop. A film patch keeps dust out.

What is a thumb notch and do I need one?

A small die-cut half-circle in the sleeve that lets you push the tray out from behind. On anything larger than a two-vial box, yes — without it the tray is awkward to start moving.

Is a belly band cheaper than a full sleeve?

Yes, meaningfully, because it uses far less board. It also provides much less friction, so the tray needs a stop feature or a closed end to stay put.

Can this structure handle ten filled 10ml vials?

Yes, with a rigid or corrugated tray. The tray walls carry the load, which is exactly why this structure suits heavier counts.

How does it ship to us?

Sleeves and folded trays ship flat; rigid and moulded trays ship formed. Everything arrives together so assembly is a single step.

Can it be made tamper-evident?

A seal label across the sleeve opening or a shrink band over the whole pack are both straightforward. Whether that is required for your product is your decision.

Do you supply vials or fill the trays?

No. We produce empty sleeves, trays and inserts. Loading happens at your facility.
